Every other month, RAW Directors in cities across the world hand-pick and spotlight local artistic talent in visual art, fashion design, film,music, performance art, hair & makeup artistry, and photography through local eclectic RAW events. With artists from all genres in each showcase, RAW events come together to form an amazing one-night circus of creativity.

What can you expect when attending a RAW Showcase? You’ll experience an independent film screening (usually a short, webisode or music video), a pop-up gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, fashion shows from up-and-coming local designers, live musical performances, vendor booths featuring local artisans and accessories designers, and live performance art. You’ll get a little taste of everything. Combine all this creativity with drinks, fun, and good company!

Who can attend and what type of crowd to expect?

Anyone who meets the age and ID Requirements. Expect all races, genders, sexual orientations with a noticeable presence of queer women of color. Basically, anyone who enjoys Brunch n Hip Hop!

What time do doors open?

Doors open and the event starts at 2 pm.

Some Venue Parking is FREE
Valet Gratuity of $10 is appreciated
Street Parking where permissible is FREE (Be cautious of  “No Parking Zones”)

No outside food or drink allowed.  There is a CASH bar for beverage purchases.  Bar accepts credit cards.

What if I can’t attend the event?

All sales are final and there are no refunds.  You may resell or transfer your tickets to someone else.  From time to time, organizers may even assist you in selling your tickets, but organizers are under no obligation to assist and may decline to help.  Your attendance is your sole responsibility.

Black Girls Rock Social/Mixer is a fun networking event to recognize Women of Color who are making a positive impact in their professional careers. We know that ALL girls ROCK but this platform is to recognize women of color making a positive difference. We believe if women celebrate their success with others like themselves that are leaders, educated, with positive identities, this will self-build their esteem and worth.

This mixer will include light bites/appetizers. Great music from some of Houston female performers. Vendors will also be onsite in addition we will have the best-filled gift bags for 120 attendees ONLY.

100 Black Men, 100 Stories III: Slavery Stories @ Brazos Bookstore

100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston is hosting the third “100 Black Men, 100 Stories” book event. The theme will be “Slavery Stories” featuring books by writers that focus on American slavery. There will be a discussion and Q & A, and authors will also sign purchased copies of their books. A percentage of any proceeds will go towards our community programs. The event is free but there will be limited ticket availability, so register early to reserve your spot!

National Black Film Festival @ Houston Museum of African American Culture

In 2017 The National Black Film Festival (NBFF) brought Hollywood to H-Town. In 2018 we are doing it for the culture. NBFF is giving your stories the platform they deserve! The NBFF was founded by film producer J.O. Malone with an initiative to build an enlightening platform for future filmmakers and actors.
